The Crescent University in
its bold and courageous

to jump-start the rebirth of
moral values and ethics and
with the determination to
eradicate cultism,
lawlessness, stealing,
cheating, examination
malpractices, hooliganism,
murder and all forms of
crimes from our society,
intends to introduce a
course called Global
Citizenship into our
University education. This
course will be laced with
sound moral discipline,
social problem solving and
responsible democratic
citizenship skills combined
with positive and peaceful
religious ethics in the
lives of our youths in
Nigeria in particular and
the world in general.
THE NEED FOR GLOBAL
CITIZENSHIP AS A CORE
COURSE:
Global Citizenship is a well
structured cross-curricular
programme of study aimed at
equipping Crescent
University graduates with
functional moral, social and
responsible democratic
citizenship skills in
preparation for positive
participation in the society
locally and globally. It is
a response to deteriorating
social, moral and cultural
conditions in Nigeria and
the decline in positive
voluntary participation in
community and public
affairs.
The break down in social
norms is especially marked
among the young and manifest
itself in anti-social
behaviour, increase in
truancy and crime rate,
disrespect for human life
and apathy towards the
plight of the less
privileged.
It is also marked by a
worrying deficit in civic
and religious values, high
rise in voluntary and
official exclusion from the
education system, rising
teenage pregnancy and
prostitution levels as well
as increased alienation from
political processes of
democratic society.
To make matters worse, our
society is becoming
increasingly complex, with
greater cultural diversity
and the attendant loss of
value consensus, combined
with the gradual collapse of
traditional support
mechanisms.

EXPERIENCE
I.
Professor/Reader -
PhD with at least 10 years
post qualification
experience in teaching,
research and post graduate
supervision with substantial
publications and evidence of
academic leadership.
II.
Senior Lecturer – Ph.
D with at least 5 years post
qualification experience
supported with publications.
III.
Lecturer I & II – Ph.
D or MSc. with relevant
years of teaching and
research experience.
IV.
Technologists II –
HND in Physics and Biology.
V.
Principal Librarian –
Applicant must posses a
minimum of a Master degree
in Library and Information
Science with a minimum of 10
years cognate experience in
similar Institution. He must
also have recognised
publications as evidence of
research and working
knowledge of computer
applications in an academic
library.
VI.
Librarian I & II – A
good first degree in Library
and Information Science or a
good first in another
discipline plus a master
degree in Library and
Information Science. He must
